Two things that are important to God would be Obedience and Faithfulness. You cannot really have one without the other, because they are co-dependent. Both work hand in hand to accomplish God’s will.
This would be the way to describe the past 30 years of the Mission Movement in the Philippines. The local Baptist Churches decided that nothing was impossible with God and began challenging Filipino’s to consider God’s call and surrender to be sent out as missionaries to the foreign field around the world.
Their battle cry has been From Asia to the World.
The blessings of the Lord can be easily seen through the growth of the Missions ministry. The Asian Baptist Clearinghouse (ABC) was established 30 years ago to assist local church in this missionary endeavour.
In 1994 the Lord burdened the hearts of two families for the country of Indonesia. That same year the Clearinghouse began servicing these pioneer missionaries. Thirty years later there are 286 families using the services of ABC.
The mission outreach has grown from one country to now 60 countries around the world. From 12 supporting churches to over 1,600 mission partners. The giving of the local churches has grown from a small beginning to over 146 million Pesos in 2024, (USD 2.6 million in dollar currency). This has changed our mission’s status. Philippines has grown from being a Receiving Nation to a Sending Nation. God has proven what He can do through local churches in the Third World, filled with believers that are obedient and faithful.
We are thankful to the Lord for strong local churches that are missions minded and investing in training labourers for the harvest across the Philippines. We are seeing the number of missionaries accepted by ABC increasing each year. While missionary access to countries in Asia is extremely difficult, we rejoice that God continues to open doors for these missionaries to get into these countries and remain faithful to God’s call.
Over the past few years, we are delighted that Ministry Asia has been willing to partner with ABC to support Asian missionaries on the field and the growing ministry needs of these missionaries. The Spiritual Leadership Asia conference has served as a great blessing and encouragement to the missionaries, their families and church leaders. The investment that Ministry Asia is making to unify churches around the work to pray for Asia, support training needs and local language resources is a blessing. We are so thankful for the Asia Bible Project and the vision to geta Bible into every home. We rejoice in the opportunity to get a local language Bible into the hands of new believers.
In August, the Asian Baptist Clearinghouse and Ministry Asia will partner together in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 7th-9th August to co-host a special conference for ABC missionaries. We look forward to hosting these Missionaries and their families, as we reflect and thank God His faithfulness over the past 30 years and reset our focus on Reaching Asia and the Regions Beyond. The theme for the conference is “Faithfulness to the Commission”.
We are also looking forward partnering with Ministry Asia to co-hosting “dedicated events for Southeast Asian countries on 9th and 11th August. Our desire is to bring together all the Missionaries, National Pastors, Ministry Workers Bible College students and Christian busiess leaders in each of these countries for a time of focus and pray for the ministry in each of these countries.
