An Answer to a Mountain Top Prayer

Asia, home to over 5 billion people, speaking more than 2300 languages is a continent of immense diversity and profound need. Ministry Asia is a local church-focused organisation desirous of coming alongside pastors and ministry workers in every country to help make a difference for the cause of Christ. We remain committed to ensuring that everyone in this vast region can hear the gospel in their native language at least once.

This ministry began in 2009 with a small group of men that met together in the mountains of Sri Lanka to pray for the overwhelming needs of the region. This moment of prayer ignited a mission that has grown significantly over the years.

The Beginning: Prayer and Divine Connections

The early days of the ministry were marked by earnest prayer and a sense of inadequacy in the face of immense needs. One immediate need that was identified was for a conference to bring together ministry workers from across Asia. This vision came to fruition through divine connections, notably with Pastor Paul Chappell of Lancaster Baptist Church. Following years of prayer, the support from Pastor Chappell and the staff of Lancaster Baptist Church was instrumental in helping us host the first Spiritual Leadership Asia regional conference in Singapore in 2015.

The Growth: Conferences and Collaborations

Following the inaugural conference, we moved the venue for subsequent conferences to the Philippines, a country experiencing a spiritual awakening. This allowed us to support local pastors, missionaries, and churches, while also showcasing the work of God in the Philippines to inspire others across Asia. Ministry leaders like Pastor Gerry Nable, Pastor Gilbert Toquero, and missionaries such as Rick Martin, Doug Sission and Paul Byars have played a pivotal role in the expansion of the ministry. The loss of Pastor Toquero in 2020 was deeply felt, but his legacy continues, through leaders like Pastor Ramil Olalia, that have stepped in to carry the load. In 2018, we were thankful to have Pastor Kevin Folger joined us as the North America representative, helping promot the needs of the ministry and engaging churches across North America in prayer support for the region.

The Expansion: Impact and Blessings

The impact of the Spiritual Leadership Asia regional conferences in 2016 and 2018 was evident. Despite a five-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the 2023 conference drew over ten thousand ministry workers from 62 countries. We have seen God work during these gatherings to equip, strengthen, and encourage countless individuals to catch on to the vision and engage in the work across Asia. It’s lead to over 300 men and women surrender to God’s call in their lives. Initiatives like Roundtable Asia and virtual Country Assessment sessions with missionaries helped highlight the growing ministry needs and open doors in each country. It has been a blessing to engage in supporting national pastors and local language Bible distribution in 14 countries and 37 languages. We are also thankful to Cleveland Baptist Church, along with others, that have supported the Asian Bible Project.

Ministry Asia: Vision and Mission

Ministry Asia’s vision is clear: “Impacting Lives and Transforming Nations for the cause of Christ.” Our mission involves bringing together likeminded partners with relevant resources and expertise to equip and enable ministry leaders to make a transformational difference in every Asian country and the regions beyond.

As we move forward our desire is to extend, what began with a regional focus, deeper within each country and expand our focus on the ground to support a broader spectrum of ministry needs.

Our focus remains on God’s work, done His way, through His enabling, for His glory alone.

The Region: Prayer and Focus

We invite you to join us praying for these specific needs:

  1. That we will evidence personal revival and a mission’s revival across Asia, as our churches and God’s people prioritising prayer.
  2. That God will raise an army of labourers to spread the gospel across Asia and from Asia to the world, so everyone in Asia will hear a clear presentation of the gospel at least once.
  3. That every home in Asia will have access to the word of God in their local language.
  4. That Ministry Asia conferences may be hosted in every country to bring together, equip and strengthen the work of the ministry.
  5. That continuous training and a repository of local language ministry resources may be developed for each country.

God has indeed answered our mountain top prayers. The small beginnings have opened our eyes to larger prayer needs and desires. We invite you to come over and help us. Let’s work together to impact lives and transform nations for the cause of Christ. Here in Asia, and then from Asia to the world.
